Jim's Bio and "I" Story
| I am a retired USDA-NRCS Conservation Agronomist. I am a native Kentuckian (My Ol' KY Home, UK Wildcat Marching Band (WMB)) and graduated from the University of Kentucky (UK fight, UK WMB) with a degree in Agronomy in 1968. I worked for over 40 years with USDA before I "rode out on my broom" on Halloween day, October 31, 2005, and retired. | Definition: Agronomy - the application of soil and plant sciences to land management and crop production. |
I worked for 26.5 years as District Conservationist in Prestonsburg and Winchester, Kentucky
and the final 13.5 years in South Texas with Agronomic
responsibilities for 51 counties (20% of the state). I met Billie in Corpus Christi in July, 1988 and we were married in April, 1989. Billie moved to Kentucky in 1989 after her school year was over. I learned quickly that "you could take the girl of Texas, but you could not take Texas out of the girl" so a search was on fairly quickly for me to find a position in Texas. Divine intervention would have it that in the summer of 1992 a position became available in Alice, TX that I applied for and accepted. So back to Corpus Christi, we came.
 | I became a Mary Kay husband in September, 1998 and firmly believe in the product and the company values. Since
Billie began her Mary Kay business, I have been actively
involved as her Business Manager doing just about everything that she needs to be done around the office, handling all financial aspects of the business, training consultants on the "business and organizational" aspects of the business, taking phone orders, resales, delivering products, publishing newsletters and everything else except helping ladies to decide what cosmetics they need. Color stripping, facials and classes are strictly Billie's forte. I keep asking myself, "Why did it take so long for us to find this opportunity?" I guess the Lord makes it available when we are ready for it. |
I have attended Mary Kay seminars, career conferences, retreats, and leadership conferences and I would strongly urge any husband to attend when possible to gain a better overview of your wife's career. If the husband is employed by his spouse, you really need the experience in order to know about the company, products, and the way things should be done. It is really amazing and a real "eye-opener" to see what this company is all about. If one can not get excited at Seminar; then, there is no hope for you. In an audience of over 8,000 excited estrogen-filled women - come on! You are already dead! There really is not any limit as to what these women can do. The sky is the limit!
I have two grown sons, Jeff and Jason. Jeff and his wife, Dawn, live
in Spring Hill, FL with two daughters, Chloe and Kayleigh, and two sons, Alex and Mikey. Jason and his wife, Jamie, live in South Lebanon, OH with their son, Ryan.
Billie's and our
current family includes two Dachshunds, a toy Poodle
and a one-eyed Pomeranian. Our English Bulldog,
Maxwell, died in October, 2006. Of
course, none of these dogs are spoiled, but they rule the house!
 My hobby
is golf.
We have played in many different states and Western Canada.
Our latest month-long golfing vacation to
Australia and
New Zealand in November and December, 2006
was really the trip of our lifetime! We are now
planning our next golfing vacation to Scotland and Ireland during
the summer of 2008.
I am an avid UK Wildcat fan. I "bleed blue" with any loss or other catastrophe to "THE PROGRAM"! |
