| In the spring of 1997, when I began thinking about retirement from teaching, I began to seek
Guidance on "what to do next" in my life. I received a very special message "Put a Puppet in a Basket!" I certainly did not understand the message but I was assured that in time it's meaning would be revealed to me. So I kept "the faith"!
The following Christmas, Jim and I went to Branson, Missouri
to see the Christmas shows. I went into a gift shop
that had "cute little stuffed animals". I picked up
one and lady asked, "Do you know what that is?" I
answered, "Of course, it is a Penguin!" She replied to
me, "No, it is Waddle, a Beanie Baby!" |
 |
| At that time, I had never heard of Beanie Babies as they were not yet in South Texas, but I thought they were cute so I started a collection that grew quite large in a short time. (over 1000 when Jim quit counting). I asked
God, if that was the puppet part and he replied, "YES". So then I began to search for the meaning of "in a Basket" part. In the following summer of 1998, I visited my cousin, Bekah Westover in Amarillo, TX. I had not visited in her home for many years. When I went into her home, she had Mary Kay baskets full of Mary Kay products all over her house. Thus the
Lord connected the pieces of the puzzle for me. She told me about the Company and gave us several tapes to listen to as we were on our way to Arizona for a vacation. Needless to say by the time that we got back from Arizona, Jim and I were very excited about the prospects of a Mary Kay business. YES, I joined the company and what a
Blessing it has been for my life. I finally retired
from teaching in December, 2000 after 32 years. By the
way, Waddle's (my first Beanie Baby) birthday is December
19th - the very same day that I retired and started my
full-time Mary Kay career. I take the Beanie Babies to
all of my Events in my Mary Kay Gift Baskets. They are
everywhere in my office! |

Mary Kay
MISS GO-GIVE Recipient
December, 2009 |
In August, 2001, I debuted as a Director after seven months of full-time Mary Kay activities. I was a member of the Mary Kay Honor Society and
have been in the National Queen's Court of Personal Sales for the Ruby Division
three times. I have been recognized with the Double Star
Achievement twice and in the Circle of Achievement four
times with a high total of over $370,000 in retail
sales. My team has had over 40 Star Consultants. I have been a Star Consultant for
over 40 quarters and have been privileged to have earned the Grand Am, Grand Prix,
Saturn SUV and the Pink Cadillac. In December, 2009, I
received the monthly highest award in the Ruby Division of
the company, the Mary Kay MISS GO-GIVE Award. This
recognition recognizes the individual who best exemplifies the
GOLDEN RULE and
unselfishly helps Adoptees and others in the 'giving of the Heart'.
There have been so many Mary Kay blessings, it would take too many pages to share all of that. However, it all started when the Lord sent me into Mary Kay with His words, "Put a Puppet in a Basket"! |

Jim and I love golf, when he can drag me away from my Mary Kay
business. We have played in many different states,
Australia, New Zealand and Western Canada. Our month-long
golfing vacation to
Australia and
New Zealand in 2006 was the
trip of our lifetime! When Jim gets back into a
reasonable health condition, we are now planning our next
vacation to Scotland and Ireland.
We had planned on retiring to a golf community before Mary Kay
came along, but ol' well!! I am having FUN Putting
Puppets in the Baskets!!
